Beijing Banquet Kilmarnock

If you’re in or around Kilmarnock and craving a massive variety of Chinese and Asian-inspired dishes, Beijing Banquet Kilmarnock might just become your next go-to spot. Tucked away on Queen's Drive in Riccarton, this spacious buffet-style restaurant draws you in with its welcoming vibe and the promise of indulgence - whether you're in the mood for crispy, saucy, sweet, or spicy.

Stepping inside, you're instantly greeted by the aroma of sizzling meats and bubbling sauces. The layout is open and inviting, with plenty of seating, making it ideal for families, large groups, or even solo diners looking to enjoy an abundant meal without judgment. It’s the kind of place where no one’s counting how many trips you’ve taken back to the buffet.

Let’s talk about the spread, because that’s where Beijing Banquet Kilmarnock truly delivers. You’ll find a solid range of starters - think chicken and sweetcorn soup, egg drop soup, and ribs and chicken wings that pack both flavor and comfort. The honey chicken stands out with its glossy, sticky finish and balanced sweetness, while the orange chicken delivers a gentle citrus punch wrapped around tender bites.

For fans of classics, dishes like sweet and sour fried rice and noodles, beef in black bean sauce, and char sui pork are there to satisfy. The rice and noodle station offers plenty of mix-and-match potential, so you can build your plate your way. Want sushi? They’ve got it. More into robust saucy dishes like beef and mushrooms or chicken with black beans? Sorted.

Those with a soft spot for seafood won’t want to miss the shell-on prawns, often a surprise highlight with their juicy texture and satisfying bite. And yes, the chicken balls with gravy and fried rice combo hits that indulgent, comforting note that makes buffet dining feel nostalgic.

Now, moving on to desserts - and trust me, leave room. The ice cream bar comes with chocolate sauce, and there’s vanilla cheesecake, apple pie, and even banana fritters if you're looking for something warm and sticky to finish. The sponge cake and chocolate cake selections are generous, and for the fruit lovers, there’s a variety of fresh fruits waiting on ice to refresh the palate.

The beverage station offers the usual soft drinks, but coffee fans will be happy to know there’s a hot cup of joe waiting post-meal - a nice way to round off the feast, especially if paired with cake or a cheeky scoop of ice cream.

In terms of accessibility, Beijing Banquet Kilmarnock is well-equipped to cater to various needs. The venue is spacious and easy to navigate, making it convenient for families with prams or guests with mobility aids. The service is casual but attentive - staff keep the buffet lines tidy and the stations replenished without you needing to ask.

For those who prefer dinner at home, takeaway options are available, but honestly, dining in gives you the full buffet experience, which is hard to beat in terms of value and variety. It’s also a fun atmosphere to just eat at your own pace and enjoy the buffet freedom that’s increasingly hard to come by these days.

Overall, Beijing Banquet Kilmarnock serves as more than just a place to eat - it’s a food adventure. Whether you’re after familiar comfort dishes or just want to pile your plate high with your favorites, this buffet knows how to deliver on choice and flavor. It’s not fine dining, but it’s a fun, filling, and flavor-packed way to spend an evening or weekend afternoon with people you enjoy sharing a table - and several plates - with.

Been here numerous times over the years and came today for lunch and as always the food is delicious plenty for everyone to chose from and it’s good to see the same amount at lunchtime as it is at dinner time! Lunchtime is cheaper so definitely worth it and you’re getting a wee bargain. Only criticism is the staff pack everyone in one corner next to the loos and I was sat beside a screaming baby the full time which was extremely annoying at times! I came out for peace and quiet with my wife and managed to get some free time away from our kids last thing I want is to listen to others. I think couples should be seated differently from families so it can be a more enjoyable experience all round.

Great selection but very poor food. Everything was tasteless, soup had no chicken and only tasted of aniseed. Save your money, get a takeaway.

Been there for the first time ever and it was better than expected. I'm not a big fan of Chinese food, I also don't eat meat (except fish), and still the selection was so big, I'll definitely have to come back to try some more. I'm a simple, boring person who loves potatoes and macaroni cheese, therefore most of my plate is just that well, and I had lots of sweeties and fruit which was great. Much different from any restaurant I've been to helpful staff.

Visited the Beijing Banquet on a busy Saturday night around 6.30pm . Was shown to our table straight away without any wait. The decor is outstanding. A lot of thought has went into the restaurant. Looks very plus and upmarket. Certainly doesn’t look like a budget restaurant. The food is good but not outstanding but far exceeds the price point. A wide variety of food on offer. On the weekend a chef is on hand offering tapas, cooked right in front of you. Steak, king prawns, squid etc. the chef is very pleasant. The restaurant is exceptionally clean. Staff are constantly collecting empty plates and wiping down tables. The staff our lovely, friendly and well presented. All smiling that makes the place feel more welcoming. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a simple, affordable dining experience.
